Reading takes you beyond the frames
{World Book Day 2013}
Do not read, as children do, to amuse yourself, or like the ambitious,
for the purpose of instruction. No, read in order to live.

Not to leave this thing completely blank, a short introduction. And apologies for (probably) not posting for the next few weeks, perks of being at uni in the middle of exam session.
My name is Joanna, I'm 22, Polish, currently living between home and Scotland. I'm a proud student of University of Aberdeen, currently trying to get a degree in Sociology and Religious Studies (what you see as my icon is actually the uni's brand new library). I love reading, although I must admit I don't do it as much as I used to. I guess high school really did hurt my relationship with books. But I am trying to make myself read more (that is - more than my degree requires of me). Hopefully it will be even more fun being here; it seems more multi-dimensional and less restrictive than Goodreads.
What sort of books I read? Considering my degree and academic interests; you can expect stuff on religion(s), gender and feminism. Considering my private taste; nothing too fancy. I quite like young adult books by John Green and Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games Trilogy. Other than that, my recent favourites include Markus Zusak's Book Thief and Alexander Masters' Stuart. A Life Backwards. I read what I can get and what I think I would enjoy. Prose, generally. I am also a massive fan of fanfiction, therefore you can expect an occasional entry about that.
I guess that's all for now. I hope to get this thing going, it looks like it could be fun :)
